Bio:
Monica Marlowe was born in Toronto and later moved to Los Angeles. While in LA, Monica studied the craft of novel writing and participated in the Noel Hynd Workshop. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Spiritual Psychology. Now, Monica makes her home in North Carolina and divides her time between the East and West Coasts. Monica is currently writing a memoir, The Gift Horse, about acquiring her first horse and finding herself on a most unexpected path.

Excerpt:
Today he wore a crisp white shirt that set off his olive complexion. Slim fitting jeans. His eyes seemed darker. Pools of sweet dark chocolate. Bitter – sweet dark chocolate.

His eyes widened at the sight of her.

“Oh! Hello.” Madeline was at a loss for words. Her cheeks burned at the memory of their first meeting.

“Buon giorno.” He pursed his lips, trying to conceal amusement at her obvious embarrassment.

“Well, this is quite a coincidence, isn’t
it?” Madeline was beginning to recover. Maybe staying at the monastery was not such a bad idea after all. Casually her eyes glanced at his left hand. No wedding ring. Perhaps there was a God.

Interview

1. In three days, all power will go off, everywhere for a very long time. What will you include in your author survival kit? Composition books, pens, dictionary, thesauraus, wine, candles, and the photo of my muse … the man who inspires me to smile whenever I think of him.

2. Where did the idea for the work you are promoting arise? When I was living in Los Angeles, I took myself on a
writing/spiritual retreat to a monastery just up the coast. Let’s just say one of the monks was very handsome and – well – my imagination ran away with me!

3. What do you like to read? Women’s Fiction/Chick Lit, memoirs, spiritual writing, and personal growth books. Marianne Williamson is one of my favorite authors!

4. Tell us about the most exciting place you have ever visited? Hmmm … I’d have to say that monastery in California 😉

5. What is the most mundane, day to day, thing you can share about yourself? I always lose one sock in every dryer load – how does that happen?!

From Sally – The best man at my wedding is the area Maytag Repair Man.  Yes, they really exist and the area they work is huge, laundry mats being the most needy.  He share that the sock actually sticks to the top of the washer drum area so if you have the courage to feel along that area with your hand, you might very well find the prize.  For front loading washers, the socks get into the rubber ring and again you have to feel around it.  

I don’t know how many people are going to end up in therapy but the dryer eating your socks is mostly a myth.  The washer is the bad guy.  

6. What scares you the most? Dying before I’m ready.

7. Tell us anything but keep it G rated. Have a green smoothie every day!!! Just google “green smoothie” and all kinds of
healthy recipes show up. I have one every morning and have more energy, clarity, and creativity because of it. Sometimes, I think I’m turning green!
