I have heard it said that the more you have to do, the more time you find to get it done.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t multi-task. Like my computer, I work on what is up front and maybe something is running in the background. But, for me, the background stuff isn’t really getting done. I have multiple tasks, irons in the fire, things on the back burner, you get the idea.
I often choose a task and obsess on it, for example, in the Autumn I begin painting landscapes or crocheting. Sure, I teach homeschool lessons, write a few articles, work on a novel, watch too much television. In the long run, I do not get the things on my do it before I cross over list done.
I need deadlines. I love November when National Novel Writing Month, NaNoWriMo starts. I like March as well, when National Novel Editing Month, NaNoEdMo comes along. These are very goal oriented events and a goal has a deadline. Even my family cheers me on during Nano and Edmo, it is a very nice feeling.
These events validate the statement that the more you have to do, the more time you find to get it done.
This week I set a few goals, I want to get one novel and one short story out for rejection or even better, publication.
I injured my shoulder again so things like driving and going to the gym are off the agenda, that should free up some time. It has, and I have been using it.
I have chosen one of my novels and one of my shorts, picked a market but haven’t written the query letters. Instead, I got distracted and remodeled a web site, lowered some prices and got lost in the different choices my word processing program offers.
My husband went back to work after a vacation that seemed to go on for a very long time. That freed up some time. Summer Homeshcool only runs on Tuesday and Thursday, there is more time. And summer is not used up by making blankets no one needs or painting landscapes that could be photographed, there I gain more time.
What is time anyway? It drags on when you wait and flies by when you’re late. It moves forward, backward, stays the same. Living in the moment, impossible, a moment can’t be measured.
The act of observing time, changes time. Observing anything will cause a change. Oh, what chaos, how do any of us get anything done?
The last month of pregnancy is the longest month a woman experiences. That last week before pay day is insanely long. And summer vacations for moms with kids at home can drag on longer than a baseball game.
What is my point? I am stalling. I still have things to do, I know I can do them but I don’t have enough to do or I’d find that illusive pesky thing called Time.
If you have a moment, go ahead, leave a comment. Thanks for visiting and check back often.

Keep us smiling, Sally. You do it so well. 🙂
So, so true! I have a list a mile long and, instead, I’m reading your blog. Happy to know I’m not alone 🙂
