Let me start off by saying cancer of any kind is a serious matter. I am making fun of myself, not a horrid disease.
I have been getting a month’s worth of sunshine during the hours before the temperature becomes unbearable. The rest of the year I spend steadily growing whiter.
I was in my lawn-chair with my shuffle playing on porta-speakers, talking to my son. I looked down and there on the inner part of my lower leg I found a brown bump that I had never seen before.
We both peered into the mysterious light brown spot. I began to worry. One month of sunshine and I get skin cancer to offset my tan? How fair is that? Well, the Big C is never fair.
Once inside I told my darling husband about it.
“What do you think?” I asked. “Maybe, I should put a circle around it with a sharpie.”
He leans in close, looks through is bifocals and says, “That is a pine tree sticky thing.”
I called my son inside to witness the miracle and peeled the sticky thing off.
To all of you out there basking in the sunshine, be careful.
Till next time, don’t touch anything sharp!
