I have a new computer. All of the keys are in a virgin state. My previous keyboards each have tells. The shiny keys and keys without letters. Worn off because those are the keys I drag my fingertips over and over.
Shift, Ctrl and the Space Bar are the first to show wear, then the backspace key. All a testament to almost daily use.
This keyboard has a lighted keyboard, something I have wished about for a very long time. But you know what they say, “Wish in one Hand….”
Changing out a computer is easier every time because of advances in software. Most of my information traveled to the new digs.
There is less clutter over here, I suppose I will add back some of the applications I use, but others I can part with.
I’ve had a few password issues but nothing I can’t fix with an email or two. My email box is filled with alerts and warnings that someone has been logging into apps and websites on a different computer. These emails ask if it was me. Other websites send six digit numbers to my cellphone. I am totally aware of how annoying my Message Tone is on my cellphone, now.
I finally got around to changing this computer’s name, last night. MonkeyButt1 regular Monkey Butt is applied lovingly to my kids, grandkids and of course, Cleveland.
In 1993 I left most of my personal items behind in an abusive relationship. Those things included a Commodore64 and an old Vic20. One day, I was feeling sorry for myself and a dear friend got me off my Pity Pot by telling me, everything, all of it, tangible and intangible, that I’d left behind would eventually be replaced with something better.
Dorinda, you were so right.
As I type at my lighted keyboard with fresh lettering and a satisfying click of keystrokes, I am thankful. I have a fresh computer and many hours and days ahead to write blog posts, novels, articles and general mayhem.
Don’t touch anything sharp!
