Again, I am guilty of letting dust gather on my blog. I suppose I owe you at least a summary of events since August.
Since our last mortgage payment a lot of things have happened. We had to buy a new refrigerator. Then our hot water heater converted itself into a hot water fountain. After replacing it with a ‘smart’ water heater we needed to replace the toilet.
Now, we can store food, take hot bubble baths and flush all manner of things. Next, the drains in the kitchen and laundry room need to be replumbed.
During this period of time I was in dental drama. The circus inside of my mouth would only tolerate soft mushy food. On bad days I was using adult baby formula to avoid having my DH discover my skeletal remains. Those two offending teeth are gone, now. I will spare you images.
It was also time to have new glasses made. The books at the eye doctor indicated I had been using the same frames and prescription since spring of 2014. A note to plastic frame users, the color of your frames will actually rub off. This time, I have gone back to wire frames.
Taxes. I probably don’t need to explain the stress surrounding property tax payments. They have been made. I actually did a ‘big swear’ in front of my grandson while paying taxes online.
All of these needful things have consumed all of the money we thought we’d save after our mortgage payments ended. Homeownership is not all that.
Darling Husband will retire on the last business day in December, a new income adjustment I can worry over. He has over 30 years and deserves to be alive and at home to drive me the rest of the way to complete mental breakdown.
My catchphrase has changed from “Don’t Touch Anything Sharp” to “I Am this Close.”
Cleveland has been at my side, steadfast during my time of financial panic and seems to believe me when I randomly announce how close I really am.
