brings us a Flash Fiction Friday
Becca Butcher
.
This came about when I uploaded a photo of some deer that hang around my Montana home. They ate all of the plums from the North Yard, then they ate the pumpkins from Halloween and now they have to stand on their hind legs to reach what ever it is on our tree in the North yard. The photo was taken through our double paned window and if you can manipulate it you will see she has snow on her back.
Reindeer Games
“Okay, guys we all know why we’re here. The question is what do we do about the broad?”
All twelve deer nodded and scuffed the snow but no clear answers were voiced. They looked to the lone buck at the edge of the clearing.
Smoke drifted from his cigarette to curl around his antlers. He seemed not to notice the crowd moving closer to him.
“Dirk, can you help us?”
He spat his cigarette out and crushed it with a hoof.
“We’ve all heard her muttering about Farmville. But have you actually seen her do any farming? How do you know she even has any corn?”
The assorted bucks and does began talking all at once. Dirk watched for a minute and shook his head.
“Settle down. Jeez, you guys are a nervous bunch.”
“What do you suggest we do then?” asked a rather pretty doe.
“Come closer, doll, and I’ll tell you.”
She shouldered another doe out of the way, walked up and stood in front of him batting her eyelashes. The others circled around her.
“If you create a distraction, the broad won’t notice you scoping out the house to look for the corn.” He looked closer at the doe. “What’s your name? You’d make a good distraction.”
“My name is Betty. And your distraction would have to be pretty cute to draw the old lady away from her machine. She’s always pecking away at it.”
“She has an apple tree near the big window. Do you like apples, Betty?”
“As much as you like your Marlboros.”
“You go to the tree when she’s looking. Stand up like you’re trying to reach the apples. She’ll probably take pictures. That’ll give us time to search for the corn. Think you can handle that, Doll?”
“Just be sure you’re searching the house and not watching the show.”
To Be Continued…..
All of us thank you Becca and if you run your cursor over her name you can hop on over to Becca’s Blog.
Till next time, do whatever you have to do, but keep it clean, play fair and beware of any stray deer trying to bash into your cars.
