Anyone who has been following this blog, knows about the wildlife I view from my front window. You have also heard about our cat who recently lost a tooth and the box turtle who caught a bird. Deer have mauled our Halloween Pumpkins and Bucks have startled me as I set down to read email.
Recently, a huge army of roofers came to replace our hail damaged roof with Hunters Green Shingles. This influx of y chromosomes, upset the wildlife. The Deer have been moving through from East to West instead of using their usual path. The bunnies, last seen under the plum bush, jumping over each other, are gone. A woodpecker came to give me the stink eye after the roofers left.
This afternoon, a small head sporting round eyes and sunshine yellow fur looked in on me from the flower bed window about three feet from my email. I was going to take a picture but when I realized the camera was in the case, I opted for a human witness instead.
This was our first Weasel and we mistook it for a lost pet ferret. We wondered if it escaped a roofer’s truck. We know that no construction is complete without a dog in the back of a pick-up. It seemed an odd choice, though, a ferret for a mascot.
When my darling husband came home from work, we described the stray. He said it was a weasel. So, I checked it out and sure enough, I have another critter to add to the list of wild things I’ve seen from my window.
I used Internet images to show you the creature.
I wish you could all see the world from my front yard, but the wildlife won’t stand for it. I’m told we have a real board roof under the Hunters Green Roof, not plywood, maybe that is what the woodpecker was up in wings about.
