Fiction Friday Fiction Snippet…

This is a bit of fiction I wrote earlier in the week…a Fiction Friday Snippet –

“Where have you been?”

“What do you mean where have I been? Are you my keeper, now?”

“No, I am not your keeper, but I have an interest in what you are doing. I can’t won’t be putting myself, my name, out there to get you out of whatever mess you’re making. So, you might as well spill it.”

“I haven’t been doing anything. You can check, call work, I’ve been there every day. Go ahead, call.”

“It isn’t work I’m worried about, it is what you do in your spare time.”

“You don’t let anything go, do you? Always bringing up the bad stuff.”

“So, you want me to believe you go home after work, eat a microwaved dinner, watch some tv and go to bed? You must be doing something. Tell me you are going out to a bar. Tell me you are learning to play pool. I know you aren’t a recluse.”

“I haven’t done anything wrong. I don’t know why it is so hard for you to believe.”

“And a simple drive by tells me you aren’t at home hoarding cats. Where do you go?”

“I am not hurting old ladies with shopping carts. I am not rolling the homeless. I’m not slashing tires or letting the dogs out. Why can’t you leave it alone?”

“Because I know you. Because I care about you. Because I made you. There, you satisfied? I made you.”

“Okay, okay. I was following someone, but that is over now. You have to believe that. I’m done. I’m so done I’m paranoid.”

“Who was it? And what do you mean you’re done. Did you kill someone? Oh, shit, don’t tell me you killed someone.”

“No, I didn’t kill her. She nearly killed me.”

“Well that is a new one. Aren’t you supposed to have the upper hand? Don’t you keep control? I taught you better than that. What do you mean she almost killed you?”
