Ears

Ears

The first things I noticed about my son when he was laid on the hospital bed beside me were his ears.  They were small and close to the sides of his head.  Perfect little baby ears.  Then I focused on his nose.

Ears and noses distract me.  Yet these features are seldom featured or described in fiction or non-fiction for that matter.

Quick, leave a comment that shows me an ear.  I’ll ask you for a nose at a later time.  I am interested in ‘hearing’ from you.

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears ….

Her ears were small, neatly settled against her head. Pink whorls partially hidden under her hair. No holes in the lobes, no unnatural stretching from heavy jewlery. The most perfect ears he had ever seen.

Looking at them, you couldn’t tell that they heard nothing at all.
