Department Store Glasses and Poop through a Goose

The Fallen Ones

The Fallen Ones

I go through department store reading glasses like poop through a goose. And,yes,we had a goose. She lived in our back yard and got our names on a ‘list.’ Who knew cable repairmen, delivery drivers and meter readers kept ‘lists?’

Right,I was talking about reading glasses. I [...]

Dip Stickery

You know when a guy lifts the hood to check the fluid levels? He picks up a dip stick and wipes it with a rag. Then he puts it into where ever he is checking, then eye balls it from this angle and that, then wipes it again. He uncaps the next container of [...]

Summer has come to Montana, almost. We have winter and July. It has warmed up enough for us to become careless about leaving the doors open. As soon as the flies and mosquitoes take hold we will start remembering to button up.

Just find the comment link and take as many or few words as you need to answer the question of the month. Did you choose a non-fiction book so you could ‘read to find out’ or fiction so you could ‘read to escape?’ [...]

Winter and July

I think it has been raining for three days. Not a frog choking rain, not even a drizzle and I shouldn’t complain because a small drop in temperature would have given us three days of snow. Yes,it is May,but,it is May in southwest Montana. We have two seasons here… Wait for it… Winter and July! [...]

If I Should Die_200x300_72dpi

Some find it distracting, others find it comforting. If I really like the tunes that are playing I become too distracted to read. I prefer ambient,new-age or environmental music if I remember my Kindle will play while I read. [...]

Oh,my Gosh is it May First?

Look closer and you will see my novel hiding out.

Wait! Wait! I spent yesterday afternoon repotting the houseplants that live at my north window. If being rootbound is an indication of doing something right during the winter, then my rather brown thumb is leaning toward green. I have corpses of bonsai trees in the breezeway that will testify to the opposite, they insist I killed them. [...]

If it Doesn’t Kill You…Character Building II

Her closet is nearly empty. She doesn’t have much in the way of hanging clothes. Two pairs of shoes, one pair of running shoes and one pair of dark dress shoes. A simple black dress hangs with a summer printed sundress. Most of her clothes are in a dresser. Today, she reaches into the closet and takes the summer dress and simple shoes. She slips the dress on over her head and shrugs it into place where the skirt part settles over her narrow hips. She toes on the shoes and fluffs her hair in front of a full length mirror. She leans in to check her mascara and leaves the room without a trace. [...]
