Back to School or Writer’s Stock Up Sale

After last week’s rant, I am coming to you in better spirits.  Not to imply I am partaking of spirits.  And I mean no offence to any spirits with nothing better to do than watch me type a blog post.

I still have the cough.  It is nice to know I don’t have anything wrong.  Did I mention I didn’t get a prescription or anything during my last visit with the doctor?  I began sleeping with Benadryl on the headboard.  At 2:30 when the previous Benadryl wears off, I replenish.  This keeps the 4:30 wheezing fits at bay.

I also invested my rebate from buying this laptop in an air purifier that shares space on the headboard with the Benadryl.  Do, I feel better?  Well..

Did you know it takes a valid ID, address and signatures on bits of paper to purchase Sudafed?  And folks are upset with the NSA?  Go figure.

I have high blood pressure and shouldn’t be resorting to Sudafed.  But darn it, I’m tired of coughing, already.  I got my blood pressure reader out and am going to watch the numbers.  If they go up, I will stop taking the meds and go back to wheezing.  After all, I don’t have anything wrong with me.

It is back to school time.  I really love this time of year.  I think most writers have a passion for ink pens and notebooks.  If you get there early enough the aisles aren’t clotted with wild children and frustrated parents.

The back to school section for college aged kids is even more fun, but more expensive.  Everything from sheet sets to tiny twenty dollar vacuum cleaners are sharing space with rugs, dorm sized refrigerators and computer desks.  I am long gone from college but when I lived in the dorm we didn’t keep food in our rooms.  We went across to the cafeteria.  We did use the old fashioned metal popcorn poppers to reheat food.  You could deep fry things in those poppers.  Yes, we did.  Hotplates were forbidden.

So, there you have it.  I survived whatever is NOT wrong with me and bought some ink pens and notebooks.

I’ll be back in a few days.  Don’t touch anything sharp!

“Stationery”!!!!!! It’s almost as bad as walking into a bookstore or a hardware store!

    Glad you’re feeling better-ish

It’s really nice seeing the back-to-school ads and knowing I don’t have to shell out a bunch of money for supplies the kids won’t use. I have 2 still in college, and yes, the tuition, etc. is exorbitant! That’s why I work multiple jobs in addition to my writing career which would barely keep them supplied with ramen! But when they need supplies these days, they can afford to buy them, since all of my kids have been working since they were 14.

Glad you’re feeling a bit better. Sounds like really severe allergies to me. Sometimes it’s a game, huh, what with taking one thing to cure one problem, and it exacerbates or creates another problem! Big hug.
