Life is a Story

Tell it Big

April Foolery, the Turtle and Insurance Droppage

It is April 7th. Eternal Press released eight new titles today. It is snowing outside. We uprooted the turtle and put her in a bowl of warm water.

A few days ago I discovered my insurance company dumped me at the end of the year and now I have to pay for my gym membership.

On the first, my darling husband left me a thermos filled with clear coffee.

Now, the whole world is caught up on my life.

Brevity is my longsuit. Let me give you some details.

These are the titles and authors at Eternal Press who had a great release day. I had the great honor of playing moderator in the Eternal Press Chatroom as they shared the stories behind the stories.

Beyond the Call of Duty, contemporary romance by Wendy Stone, The Locket, mystery suspense by Ginger Simpson , The Vampire Queen, a paranormal romance by Jodie Pierce, Tokyo Heat, a multicultural erotica romance by Carol Itoh, Beneath the Hallowed Hill a fantasy by Theresa Crater, Kid Logan, a western by Richard Jones, Jessica’s Trap, a horror by Dr. Kevin Hillman and Elysium, an historical romance by Diane Scott Lewis.

Yes, it is snowing. It has been going on since yesterday. It is not unusual at all to see snow in June. We have two seasons in Montana. Winter and July. To counteract the long winter, we take advantage of central heating and a light box.

Cally-Berry is our box turtle. She digs into her bedding in November. We awaken her a few times during the winter months and put her into a bowl of water. Then we offer her a worm and let her go back to sleep. Everytime we dig her out we are surprised and relieved that she is still alive. Every year about this time we start waking her up. In a week or two she’ll be active enough to catch a stray bird.

I don’t open most of my mail. I guess at the bills. When nothing gets turned off I assume I’ve done okay. Last summer I found I had over paid the power company by a few months. When I see letters from insurance companies and know I haven’t submitted any claims, sure, the letter goes into the round file. The letter about my gym membership being denied was the first clue. Then when I called my doctor for a refill and the receptionist asked if I had changed my insurance it made me curious enough to call customer service. The nice insurance lady said I was not the only person who got dropped at the end of the year. I am calling her nice because she didn’t add that although I wasn’t the only person I am indeed the slowest one to notice.

On April First my darling husband got me with an April Foolishness. Bless him, he gets up way before me, makes the coffee, goes off to work but only after he fills a thermos bottle for me. Pouring coffee from the thermos is easier and safer than reaching over my head to get the coffee pot from the coffee maker. He filled it with hot water. I didn’t get it. About noon, I texted him about the clear coffee and discovered he had left me the real thing under a dining room chair. April Foolery! Who looks under a chair for coffee?

The Lady Heather character is coming back to CSI in a little bit, so I am going to wrap this up and post it. If you made it this far, go on over to my April Contest Page and leave a comment. Win a $20.00 Amazon Card and don’t touch anything sharp!

Widder – there isn’t anything more excusable than going through contracts and edits that come with them. Miss all the chats you need to miss.

Carol – Cally-Berry is the name of a goddess devoted to animals, I think. It is hard to remember, we got her in Y2K.

Ginger – you are so kind. If people knew how much I enjoy working for EP and all of the authors there they’d think I am crazy. It sometimes gets complicated and some days go on forever, but I still do it with happiness. Thank You!

ROFL … clear coffee… quick, must patent it.

A whole bunch of stuff came in for me yesterday for EP, and I’m still plowing through it so I didn’t get to the chat… will do better next time. My house is as untidy as my computer files at the moment, not sure which one to start on first… maybe undertake a parallel process.

This is so nice. I loved your turtle’s name, Cally-Berry. So cute.

I don’t think Sally get’s the appreciation she deserves. Besides all her regular tasks during the week, on release day, she spends the entire time with the authors, moderating each person’s chat time and making sure they get any help they need. Sally, thank you for being there today to hold my hand. You are the greatest.
