Too Long – a Fiction Friday Short

How long is too long?

Helen had been there more than a decade.

“Yes sir.  I’m sorry; I’ll do it better next time.”

She rubbed at a brown spot on her upper arm.  Its twin was on the other side.

“How long?” she asked the mirror.

The phone rang.

The phone stopped.

Helen dressed in her best up-scale outfit, packed her big handbag and set out for a walk.

The phone rang as the door closed.

Sunshine warmed her face.

She used some of her money for a bus ticket and rode until it felt too long.
